General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS), a market leader and technology innovator, has an immediate opening for a Advanced SONAR Systems Engineer to join our Autonomous Undersea Systems team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to create and manage various General Dynamics Mission Systems and client technologies. This role can include up to 40% travel to support tasking in both McLeansville, NC and Quincy, MA.
The Advanced SONAR Systems Engineer will have a strong electrical engineering background and will architect, design, develop, integrate and test SONAR systems into unmanned maritime vehicles. This engineer will also be capable of SONAR system performance evaluation and analysis. This individual will be responsible for the integration of software, hardware, reliability, maintainability, safety and other requirements in the total systems engineering effort. The successful candidate will have significant experience in:
Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of various engineering systems and the ability to further advance General Dynamics Mission Systems technology.
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Physics, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline or the equivalent and at least eight years of directly related work experience. Applicants with a Master's degree and a minimum of six years of related experience are also eligible.
Department of Defense Secret security clearance is desired at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
