KBR, along with our joint venture partners, JGC Corporation and Chiyoda Corporation, has formed JKC Australia LNG Pty Ltd (JKC) to deliver the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) activities for the onshore facilities of the Ichthys LNG Project. The Project, one of the world's largest LNG developments, involves gas from the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin off north-west Australia being exported to the onshore processing facilities in Darwin via an 890km pipeline. The Ichthys LNG Project is expected to produce 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with approximately 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak over its 40 year life-span. The Project is now in the construction phase.

We currently have a short term opportunity for a Government Approvals Advisor on the Ichthys LNG Project. The Project is now in its fourth year of construction. This position will report to the Approvals and Regulatory Compliance Manager and focus on Building Act (NT) approvals for the Project.

Responsibilities will include

  • Gather, collate and supply information for submittal of Building Act (NT) approvals

  • Communicate and negotiate with building certifiers, certifying engineers (structural/hydraulic), consultants, and colleagues to ensure all conditions of approvals, licenses and permits are completed as per requirements

  • Co-ordinate and manage subcontractor regulatory compliance programs and activities

  • Coordinate inspections of works by building certifiers

  • Develop and maintain conditions registers and compliance reporting tools


  • Experience in and knowledge of Northern Territory Building Act, and government regulatory processes and requirements
  • Major construction project experience in an EPCM environment
  • Ability to multi-task, self-manage and meet deadlines
