MWH B.V., part of Stantec Inc., is the Dutch engineering and consultancy firm that has literally 'shaken up' the market with new styles of collaboration and alternative service provision models. As a member of a global group, we combine the versatility and ownership of a locally-based business with the knowledge, expertise, network and strength of a global company with two hundred years of experience. Our international experience in major and complex programmes has provided us with discerning working methodologies and tools, which we can also effectively employ in the Netherlands to deliver greater success to our clients. Thanks to our short and informal lines of communication, we offer our clients and colleagues the best of both worlds. Talented individuals are given the scope and professional support they deserve within an international setting. |
We operate in the specialist fields of Safety, the Environment, Soil, Compliance and Asset management. We cover the entire chain: from planning through field work, environmental assessments, audits and inspections to the full development and management of sites, assets, projects and programmes in both the public and private sectors. Consequently, we fully understand and can manage the relationship and mutual expectations between clients and suppliers and between regulators and the parties being regulated.
Everything we do is rooted in our motto: 'building a better world'. And we won't settle for anything less.
Your work area
We are currently focusing on reducing research costs and increasing the impact of our research results and advice, a prime example of which is the development and launch of the national Soil Risk Chart (NA).
In the current economic climate individuals are continuously required to deliver enhanced performance with ever fewer funds. It no longer simply suffices to deliver the most comprehensive soil survey, the most detailed policy advice or spatial plan; everything must be done better and faster at less cost in a more predictable manner. In other words: above all, in an increasingly smarter manner.
We do so by turning often already widely available data into usable information. To avoid unnecessary research, we help our clients share information with each other and make it available for re-use. We reinforce our advice through the use of 3D images and models. Through the application of state-of-the art information technology, we have reduced implementation costs significantly in recent years by standardising processes and results.
The business line employs over 50 consultants, who are divided between our offices in Delft and Arnhem. In addition to information processing, we work on projects involving soil remediation, groundwater contamination and the multiple use of subsoil resources.
Pieter van der Zwet, Managing Director of MWH Netherlands: 'MWH constantly strives to realise the most sustainable, smart solutions for its clients. We don't just deliver the standard services. Pretty much every client request has one aspect or another that makes it unique, and requires a committed, well-considered approach. Our cooperation with our clients and business partners, which is both proactive and intensive, puts us in a position to deliver added value. Practice has proven that while we often may not offer the cheapest solution, we generate higher financial benefits for our clients than competing alternatives.'
To provide even better service to our clients, MWH is looking for an ambitious:
Geo ICT specialist (Delft/Arnhem)
What will you do?
You will work in a team of colleagues to help respond to the challenges in the field of automation, the development of web applications and the creation of widgets. You have affinity with HTML5, Java, GIS and Python. You are also proficient in spatial thinking and analysis. You advise internally on which configurations to apply, where and why, and you can provide a clear and realistic time schedule for developments. For you, keeping abreast of new developments and translating them into specific, practical recommendations is the most natural thing in the world.
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates who are dedicated to collaborating professionally with both clients and colleagues. Do you have the substantive expertise and experience required, along with a generous portion of enthusiasm? Are you eager to work for an international organisation that is committed to the realisation of a better world through commercially-oriented means, and do you meet the mandatory requirements listed below? If so, we look forward to meeting you!
What does MWH look like?
MWH Netherlands comprises three business lines: Asset Management & Infrastructure, Compliance and Soil. The business lines are supported by account managers and project managers who are responsible for customer relationship management and project management respectively. three years of relevant work experience.
• You have knowledge of scripting HTML5/Java/Python, ESRI software, open source, (spatial) databases and database skills (conversions, MS Access, XML, SQL, Python).
• You have excellent technical skills, expertise in widgets and automation and affinity with GeoServer, Postgres, and ArcGIS software.
• You enjoy the challenge of working with scripts as well as spatial thinking.
• You have the skills to work both independently and within a team.
• You are flexible and have a hands-on style.
• You have a positive and proactive attitude and have excellent oral communication skills. You have
the ability to translate your work so that it is easy to understand for non-experts in this field.
• You can demonstrate at least two applications that you have configured yourself. You have also created custom widgets/functionalities within those applications (e.g. for ArcGIS Online). Other formats are also welcome. A component with spatial analyses is an advantage.
We will give you every opportunity to perform effectively and to enhance your personal development in a dynamic, professional and informal working environment. Our organization offers sufficient scope for demonstrating own initiative and responsibility. Naturally, the terms and conditions of employment are competitive.
