GDMS has an immediate opening for an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to ensure GDMS and client technologies are functioning as efficiently as possible. The Systems Administrator is responsible for acquisition, installation, operations, maintenance and usage of complex computer systems, including building new/rebuilding old Linux/Solaris/Windows systems plus associated hardware and software. The successful candidate will perform regular security monitoring. In this role you will:

  • Engineer SA-related solutions for various project and operational needs
  • Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements
  • Install and configure systems such as supports GIS infrastructure applications or Asset Management applications
  • Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures
  • Contribute to and maintain system standards to CIS grade secuity
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale

Basic Qualifications:

The Systems Administrator position requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related specialized technical area and eight to ten years of related professional experience, or a master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related specialized technical area and six to eight years of related experience.

The Network Systems Administrator should have the following experience/skill-sets to perform hands-on technical functions:

  • Experience in Linux, Sun/Oracle Solaris/Microsoft Windows Server
  • Experience in security hardening
  • Certifications (Red-Hat/Oracle, Linux, MSCE, Security+, Network+ or A+) - with hands on technical system expertise
  • Experience in system debugging
  • Troubleshooting and fixing OS and peripheral issues
  • Backup and restore

Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
