Project Manager - Power Transmission Systems:

The Project Manager - This role will suit those with a broad range of capabilities as tasks could be varied, including technical and task management matters. The position will provide a real opportunity to grow in a supportive environment. Effective staff communications abilities with all levels of WSP|PB are also essential.

The Company:

WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff provides analysis, design and construction management for the transmission, distribution, generation and control of electric energy. Our clients include utility companies, government facilities and industrial companies that seek a connection to a power transmission or distribution network. We are currently engaged on a contract to provide owner's engineering services to Pepco Holdings, Inc. (PHI) in support of a five-year power transmission capital program valued at more than $1.8 billion. T&D needs strong technical professionals to manage this project and to further grow its US business.

The PHI Project:

PHI is a major energy delivery company serving two million customers in New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. The PHI program will include both overhead and underground power transmission systems, with the majority of the work involving overhead transmission. Voltage classes include 69kV, 115kV, 138kV, 230kV, and 500kV for overhead; and 69kV, 138kV, and 230kV for underground. Project types being designed are typically associated with local and regional load requirements, system expansion in support of regional requirements, and reliability. As owner's engineer, Parsons Brinckerhoff will manage and coordinate the activities of the design engineering consultants engaged in the transmission plan to ensure efficient delivery of specific project designs and full compliance with PHI standards and specifications and/or industry standards and codes. The firm will perform comprehensive design and constructability reviews and quality assurance tasks. It also will provide additional expertise as needed in areas such as civil, structural, and geotechnical engineering; maintenance and protection of traffic; environmental services; and permitting.

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a similar, relevant discipline
Experience/Skills Required:
      • At least seven (7) years of relevant experience, of which three years must be in power related engineering, design, construction, design-build / CMAR delivery, or project and program management
      • Experience working on major transmission projects
      • Experience with the preparation of work plans, maintaining schedules and budgets, managing resources, preparing and reviewing reports and presentations, and working with clients
      • Proven leadership, team-building, and collaboration skills, including a proven track record for meeting established project and business goals
      • Excellent communication and negotiating skills
      • The ability to speak knowledgeably with other consultants, stakeholders, other governmental agencies and individual citizens
      • The ability to analyze situations and data accurately, lead the development of effective solutions and strategies for planning, environmental, engineering, technical and logistical challenges for the delivery of the complex airport capital improvement projects
      • Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications:
      • Professional Engineering License
      • Experience with third party participation, such as Utility Owners, railways, DOT, and other stakeholders
      • A working knowledge of contracting procedures including those for Professional Services, Construction, Design-Build, and Maintenance Agreements
