About the Business Line
AECOM's Global Support Services (GSS) organization resides within AECOM's Government business line and is comprised of three divisions - International Development, Operations and Mission Support, and Global Programs. GSS has the international presence, personnel networks and procurement infrastructure to deliver support for any mission, anywhere. We optimize the reliability, availability and sustainability of equipment, logistics systems and facilities for clients around the world. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Systems Safety Engineer/Analyst to work part-time performing a variety of engineering assignments in planning and overseeing the safety analysis of weapons and weapon systems used by the Navy and Marine Corps. The position has potential to gain additional work hours within 6 months.

Essential Responsibilities:
  1. Develop system/software safety requirements for new weapon systems.
  2. Perform traceability assessments of requirements.
  3. Perform safety analyses to include hazard identification, control, and tracking.
  4. Develop and recommend mitigation strategies for identified hazards.
  5. Work with product engineers to implement mitigation into design, test, and/or human procedures.
  6. Participate with developers to validate fixes to hazards.
  7. Develop safety documentation to support reviews by Marine Corps safety authorities.
  8. Provides system safety assessments, documenting (in writing) all system safety and assessment findings, and performing development and staffing of System Safety Assessment Reports, Risk Acceptance letters, Hazard Logs, Safety Releases and supportive documentation.
  9. Prepare presentations, safety documents as needed.
  10. Participate in safety meetings.
  11. Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, or related scientific field and at least 5 years of job-related experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Executive Order 12114 (Environmental Effects Abroad of Major Federal Actions), MCO P5090.2A (Environmental Compliance and Protection Manual), MIL-STD-882 (U.S. Department of Defense Standard Practice for System Safety) and other safety related MIL standards.
  • Good communications and analytical skills; working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Position requires an Active Secret Security Clearance.
  • Position may require travel
