Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary

Our Germantown, MD office is a center of excellence for a variety of environmental assessment, investigation, and survey services to Federal, State, and local government agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, and many manufacturing and commercial clients.

AECOM is growing the Sustainability and Environmental Management Group. The group focuses on environmental impact assessment, regulatory compliance audits and support, due dilligence studies, and carbon neutral growth. We are looking for a creative, motivated self-starter, team player, and project manager to join the Environmental Impact Assessment and Planning Team. The ideal candidate for this position is a seasoned, experience Project Manager with directly relevant, recent experience, with a willingness to apply knowledge and skills to a variety of environmental impact analysis and mitigation projects.

Responsibilities will include project management, proposal management, business development, strategy development, analysis of existing information, performing field activities, preparing reports and documents, managing interdisciplinary teams, performing work to scope, schedule and budget, and related activities for both public and private sector customers. The work may include NEPA documents, Natural Resources studies, environmental site assessments, environmental compliance audits, soil and groundwater sampling, remedial investigations, and HazMat (asbestos, lead paint, PCB) surveys. However, the emphasis of this position is on environmental impact assessment and NEPA documentation.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, soil science, agriculture, wetlands management, geology, or an earth science-related field
  • 10 years F/T work experience in related field
  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as in a collaborative team environment. Demonstrated ability to manage projects to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Excellent communication skills, including both oral and written (writing sample requested)
  • Solid report writing and organization skills
  • Good working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications, including MS Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Organizational management skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required
  • Position requires field work and candidate must be able to travel
  • Self-motivated, driven, and hard working
  • Existing, mature, and tested Client relationships
  • Ability to generate new work for the Team, Office, and Region
  • Experience working in a fast-paced consulting environment
  • Strong experience with NEPA (and Natural Resources Management), including ability to manage projects, interdisciplinary teams, and workload, as well as interface with Clients
  • Demonstrated Proposal-writing skills, including major (SF330) and minor (Task Order) Proposals
  • Demonstrated ability to market and win work successfully and effectively
  • Familiar with Federal, notably including DoD, FERC, FCC, FEMA, and USCG, NEPA and Natural Resources Requirements and Processes
  • Excellent and relevant references
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Relevant Field
  • 10 years of experience in the NEPA-NR Consulting industry
  • Knowledge of GIS and MSProject preferred.
  • Transportation and Oil & Gas experience is a plus
  • Certification(s) are preferred (e.g., AICP, CEP, PMP, CWB, PWS, PE, etc.)
  • 40 Hr OSHA HAZWOPER Training
  • US Red Cross First Aid/CPR training
  • Cumulative GPA > 3.5
  • Excellent and advanced writing skills
  • Project management experience
  • Proposal management experience
  • Professional certification(s)
  • Established clients
  • Experience with performing and managing NEPA and NR work for Federal, State, municipal, and commercial customers
