General Dynamics Mission Systems has an opening for a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our team for the Summer of 2017. The position provides an opportunity to develop and advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense services. General Dynamics Mission Systems interns work closely with esteemed engineers to develop solutions that allow our clients to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to design and develop the systems, processes and tools that support internal and client operations. In addition to receiving a competitive wage, the Mechanical Engineering Intern will enhance their skill set among a talented and technically accomplished group of colleagues. Mechanical Engineering Interns perform design, development and analysis in areas such as mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, thermodynamic and heat transfer. Their work assists with General Dynamics Mission Systems production, transmission and measurement as well as the use of mechanical and electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines and machines.
Candidates must demonstrate a passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of systems engineering and analysis, and the ability to effectively develop and evolve General Dynamics Mission Systems technology. The Mechanical Engineering Intern position requires the candidate to be in an accredited engineering program pursuing a bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering or master's degree in a related specialized area or the equivalent.
Department of Defense security clearance is preferred at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
