As an integral member of Aecon's Corporate Affairs department, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with a broad array of PR-oriented initiatives and writing of communications materials to support Aecon's overall reputation management strategy. The position will also be responsible for the maintenance, updating, and continual enhancement of Aecon's digital media assets. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is a strong writer, passionate about communications, creative, resourceful, and an enthusiastic team player.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting corporate communications materials including news releases, letters, fact sheets, invites, and media backgrounders as required
  • Research and craft bi-weekly industry-related media coverage reports
  • Lead Aecon's corporate website content update and refresh program, as well as manage vendors to ensure all technical issues are addressed and resolved in a timely manner, and coordinate with suppliers during service disruptions
  • Assist with social media campaigns, identifying hot topics, monthly themes, and trends
  • Assist with Annual Report content, approvals and proofing
  • Support Annual General Meeting and industry events
  • Respond to stakeholder inquiries in an efficient, solution-based manner
  • Research and coordinate the Corporate Affairs department's PR-related initiatives including award submissions, networking events, memberships, and other activities
  • Liaise with Aecon's Marketing team to ensure transfer of content for internal communications purposes
  • Coordinate the Corporate Affairs' departments activities with a dynamic tracking system
  • Draft and respond to internal/external information requests as required
  • Administrative duties as required

Required Knowledge & Skills
  • One to three years of experience in the corporate communications/public relations field
  • Experience designing and managing corporate websites and content
  • Exceptional computer skills including PowerPoint, Excel and content management systems. Experience using Illustrator/Photoshop is an asset
  • Demonstrated organization skills, detail-oriented and a self-starter
  • Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal and excellent time management skills
  • University degree paired with a communications post-graduate certificate
  • French language skills an asset
