WSP | Parsons Brinckerhoff is looking for exceptional candidates for the position of Supervising Structural Engineer for our Buffalo, NY office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of structural engineering projects with a focus on transportation structures.
      • This individual will manage medium to large sized projects , and serve as a key technical and managerial resource in the Buffalo office
      • The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in structural engineering with demonstrated ability to manage internal and external staff as well as subconsultants on both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and programs
      • Demonstrated ability building client relations, understanding client's needs and utilizing company resources to satisfy client's needs

The successful candidate may work on projects for a variety of clients including but not limited to:
      • New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT)
      • New York State Thruway Authority (NYSTA); City of Buffalo
      • Erie Canal Harbor Development Corporation (ECHDC)
      • Erie County Department of Public Works (ECDPW)
      • New York State Parks; National Grid
      • A wide range of agencies and private clients within the region and beyond
      • Projects may include local, regional, national and international locations
      • The successful candidate will be based in the Buffalo, New York office with infrequent travel expected

Responsibilities include:
      Business development and general marketing with an emphasis on bridges and transportation related structures
      • Growing the regions business and marketplace share
      • Professional development/mentoring and training of professional staff and finding excellent talent for future growth in Buffalo and the region
      • Establishing or continuing relationships with local and regional clients to secure backlog and assure future growth
      Staff mentoring, training and performance reviews
      Project management of small to large sized transportation projects including technical, budget and schedule
      • Conceptual through final analysis and design of steel and concrete bridges of various types and configurations from simple short spans to long span or complex structures and/or movable bridges and other transportation (vehicular and pedestrian) structural systems
      • Evaluation of bridges and transportation structures (vehicular, rail and transit facilities) and the identification and prioritization of repairs
      • Analysis and load rating of existing bridges (vehicular and rail)
      • Conceptual through final analysis and design of the rehabilitation of existing bridges, buildings, and infrastructure and other transportation related structural systems
      • Preparation of final drawings, technical specifications, construction cost estimates and construction schedules for new and rehabilitation of existing bridges and other transportation or facilities related structural systems
      • Review of construction phase submittals
      • Preparation and review of technical reports and cost proposals
      • Quality Control & Assurance reviews of all project deliverables

Job Requirements
Requirements include:
      BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field
      • Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering, with an emphasis in transportation/infrastructure
      Professional Engineer license in the State of New York (or the ability to obtain within 6 months)
      • Extensive participation in Professional Societies/Associations is preferred
      • Good communication skills, both written and oral, in English are essential
      • Experience should include the project management of multi-discipline projects, including the responsibility and control for technical quality, budget and schedule.
      • Hands-on experience with structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL, LARSA, SAP2000, and MIDAS are desirable
      • Experience in Design/Build procurement and in the delivery of projects utilizing Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) is desirable.
      • Candidate must be able to work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis immediately.
