Job Title: Software Engineer
TITLE: Software Engineer
DESCRIPTION: Field installations/upgrades of software and assisting customers with usage and training.
Ongoing support of Field Service Engineers and customers remotely
PRIMARY DUTIES & TASKS:
This will include but not limited to:
+ Responsible for the Software aspects of designs and the successful integration with all software, electrical and gas systems.
+ Working with outside contractors on existing and new releases of software
+ Liaising with Customers/Suppliers/Sales/Installation teams as well as all in-house staff.
+ Improve efficiency of the Software design process, including Fully testing and control of releases.
+ Performing installations and upgrades to software in the field at customer sites, including training in the software
+ Leading Software Design Reviews as required to review ideas and schemes from other engineers & contractors.
+ Ongoing Software engineering support from Sales through to Installation and commissioning for customers and field service
+ Assist In-house testing of systems prior to shipping
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
+ Proven knowledge of design principles, standards and regulations
+ Experienced with product development and on-going support in a small team.
+ Ability to modify complex C/C++ applications
+ Knowledge of RS485/MODBUS/CANBUS/PROFIBUS protocol
+ Experienced with embedded Linux kernel
+ Experienced in performance optimising Linux device drivers.
+ Excellent understanding of the kernel threading model.
+ Familiar with PLCs and HMIs.
+ Familiarity with Real Time Systems
+ Familiarity with robotics and machine interface
+ Basic knowledge of Windows API
+ Database design and SQL
+ Demonstrable evidence of working to ISO9001 systems.
+ Demonstrable Machine testing and debugging.
+ Knowledge of Basic electronic/electrical circuits, PIC programming, higher level language (visual) programming.
Degree or equivalent in Software Engineering or a relevant discipline.
Proven software design and engineering experience
PERSONAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
+ Team player - it's a small tight team, but able to work on their own with minimal supervision.
+ Motivated and self-starter.
+ Innovator and original thinker - positive with solution based mentality and able to think out of the box - must be a completer finisher used to working to tight schedules and deadlines.
+ Attention to detail is absolutely essential.
+ Ability to work and communicate with all levels of staff including customers.
+ Flexible to adapt to changing specifications and deadlines.
