Permanent position based Cheshire - growing, market leading manufacturing business.|
The role will be to provide competent and practical health and safety advice to two manufacturing sites and support to the sites' Operations Managers and their teams, and to design, support, drive and monitor the delivery and progress of local Health and Safety Improvement Plans. In addition support the central SHE team in developing and delivering initiatives, such as safety training days and the development of management systems.
Support the sites Operations Managers and their teams to design, support, and drive the delivery and progress of local Health and Safety Improvement Plans, liaising regularly with the Head of SHE and SHE Systems Manager to ensure consistency of those Plans with the Business wide Health and Safety Improvement Plans.
To attend as Health and Safety subject matter expert as required monthly management and other key management meetings and to provide competent health and safety advice and support (including taking minutes, and action tracking) to the sites' Safety Committee(s).
To assist in the formation and delivery of projects or other solutions designed to resolve a specific health and safety issue as and when they arise. Apply legislative requirements and HSE or other guidance to possible solutions.
Daily monitoring of accidents / incidents / near misses, assisting / supporting managers and supervisors to carry out minor investigations and leading investigations into major events.
Devise and send summary information to the SHE Manager and the Sites Manager(s).
Compilation of monthly statistics to the SHE Systems and Improvement Manager. Same day reporting to members of the select forums and site managers, and other members of the SHE team, of any serious near miss or accident requiring off-site medical treatment and briefing out to Sites Manager(s) and local management team any such reports from across the wider Client business to ensure real time knowledge sharing.
To assist in the preparation of site specific risk assessments, health and safety procedures and relevant standard operating instructions. Provide advice on health and safety content.
To carry out safety audits and Operating Board safety tours in accordance with the annual programme, and to co-ordinate local response to regulatory, external audit, and other external site visits related to health and safety.
Liaising with the Head of SHE to support delivering the outputs from the clients communications, engagement and training strategy, including writing appropriate communications as appropriate including health and safety learning lessons, toolbox talks, safety briefs and delivering health and safety training.
To support the Head of SHE in developing management systems that improve health and safety performance both at site level and through developing best practice at all sites across the business.
NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health preferred or equivalent with 5 plus year experience within a relevant manufacturing environment.
This role is primarily required to have an understanding of a broad range of health and safety legislative requirements and associated fields.
The role will also require the ability to demonstrate continuous professional development in order to keep abreast of legislative and best practice updates and developments.
The role requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, and an ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
The work will be largely in operational areas of multi hazard, complex manufacturing plants.
Would suit graduate with industry experience looking to develop into Health & Safety role. Salary commensurate with experience.
