About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM's Calgary office is currently seeking a Renewable Energy Ecologist to join our team of dynamic biophysical professionals within our Environment Business Line. In this role you will have the opportunity to manage and grow a portfolio of renewable projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Coordinating and managing multiple projects across various biophysical disciplines including environmental assessments, field surveys, site investigations and construction monitoring; this would also include managing budgets
  • Preparing and assisting with proposals
  • Coordinating biological field programs, including vegetation, rare plant surveys, ecological land classification, wetland, wildlife, species at risk, soil classification and/or monitoring surveys
  • Coordinating and preparing environmental approvals and permits required for projects including Federal, Provincial and Municipal permits
  • Preparation of health and safety and quality management plans
  • Working with the team on a wide variety of major infrastructure, mining and oil and gas opportunities
  • Interacting and supporting other offices across Canada

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or related field
  • 4 years of relevant project experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including report writing
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Willingness to work flexible hours under a variety of conditions
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Class 5 driver's license required
  • Experience scoping, assessing and applying for approvals for renewable energy projects under AUC Rule 007
  • Experience coordinating approvals through the National Energy Board

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8 years of relevant project experience
  • Relevant project experience in Alberta and British Columbia
  • Experience scoping, assessing and applying for NEB approvals under Sections 52 and 58
  • First Aid, ATV/UTV/Argo, and other safety courses
