About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Architectural Historian for immediate employment.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Performing unsupervised field tasks, such as documenting historic structures for architectural history surveys and conducting intensive-level archival research at various repositories for cultural resources investigations
  • Compiling and organizing research data collected by individual or by others for the preparation of cultural resources reports of investigations and scientific documents for compliance with Section 106, NEPA, and other federal and state laws
  • Composing detailed architectural descriptions using appropriate nomenclature, as well as historic contexts
  • Assisting senior staff with business development for the Environmental Group

Minimum Requirements
  • Master's Degree in relevant discipline (e.g., Architectural History, History, Cultural Resource Management, Historic Preservation, Preservation Planning)
  • Must meet the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History
  • Strong technical/scientific writing skills
  • Ability to convey thoughts and ideas in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to conduct architectural history research and surveys
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulatory framework (Section 106, NEPA, Antiquities Code of Texas, etc.)
  • Ability to organize data in an efficient and clear manner
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of related experience
  • Previous cultural resources management experience
  • Functional knowledge of ArcGIS software and GoogleEarth Pro
  • Experience with Section 106 and NEPA
  • Willingness to expand professional experience and qualifications beyond current of expertise
