About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Mid-Level Civil or Environmental Engineer for employment in the Rocky Hill, CT office. In this important position, the successful candidate will support Project Managers and lead environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team. This is a Project Manager-track position, therefore, the ideal candidate must be able to work independently and productively in a collaborative team-environment, foster team building through inclusion and mentorship, display a high level of organization and communication, and demonstrate a strong desire to learn from Project Managers. For the right candidate, this position holds significant growth potential.

Under the supervision of a Project Manager or senior-level team member, the successful candidate will:
  • Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks
  • Lead environmental investigation and remediation tasks as part of a multi-disciplinary project team
  • Develop subcontractor relationships and manage implementation of their services
  • Lead report writing tasks with the support of more junior staff
  • Serve as lead engineer on investigation and remediation designs/calculations
  • Task manage significant portions of a larger project
  • Assist Project Managers to successfully deliver projects on-schedule and on-budget
  • Mentor junior level staff

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in environmental consulting or related field
  • Remedial investigation, remediation planning, or design experience
  • Cost estimating experience
  • OSHA HAZWOPER 40 Hour training
  • Contractor oversight or construction inspection experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Demonstrated technical writing abilities
  • Strong writing, communication, and team building/leading skills
  • Ability to travel for short-term regional project assignments/meetings
  • Basic knowledge of industry standard computer software for the position (examples include software such as CADD, HCS, AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Depending on experience, applicants with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, or related field will be considered for this position
  • Depending on work experience, applicants with 2-8 years of experience will be considered for this mid-level position
  • Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) certification is preferred, although consideration will be given to candidates working towards that certification
  • Remediation bid document preparation experience
  • Experience with proposal writing and proposal cost estimating
  • Experience working with the Connecticut Remediation Standard Regulations (CTRSRs)
  • Connecticut Department of Public Health asbestos and lead based paint certifications
