As part of the IOS partnership with Anglian Water, Morrison Utility Services and Alliance partners Barhale and Kier will deliver reactive and planned capital projects on mainly non-infrastructure water supply and water recycling sites & networks.

The contract will run for 15 years (5+5+5) offering exceptional security for those who are truly wanting to build a stable career in the thriving water sector. This contract is unique as you are embedded with the client. Working out of the Anglian Water offices, the companies operate as true partners and work as one to achieve a common goal.

You will help make a difference to 2.6m households across the region.

Role Outline

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will work locally under a central Partner Commercial Lead, assisting with the control of costs, maximising value, minimising future liabilities and maintaining the required standard of quality and safety.

Work within the project teams liaising with the Partner Commercial Lead, project engineers, procurement coordinators, schedulers, planners, site team leaders and site managers. Assist in improving cost efficiency and creating an environment of outperformance. You will manage, coach and mentor an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support you.

Provide assistance with preparation of integrated cost forecasts for projects including the provision of cost reports.
Monitor insurance claims including collation of cost information in relation to claims.
Ensure final accounts are prepared timely and accurately.
Ensure direct labour payments are monitored and reported correctly.
Analyse individual cost items to assist in measuring cost efficiency improvements.
Accurately report withheld, disputed or disallowed costs and assist with resolution of disputes.
Assist in preparation of cash forecasts.
Work with a team of people from different companies and disciplines. Blend the team's skills and experience - implement the most tried and tested ways of working. Add to this with own experience and technical know how.
Set clear direction and performance related objectives. Provide space and latitude for team to achieve their objectives; guide, challenge and coach. Be willing and able to manage the consequences of performance - recognise good and exceptional performance, address poor performance.
Shared responsibility of individual project budgets up to £1.5m.

Ideally degree qualified or equivalent
Preferably a member of a recognised chartered institute
Knowledge and experience preparing final accounts to specific deadlines
Knowledge and experience preparing for audits
Ability to appropriately delegate tasks to assistant
Experience in line management and ability to coach/mentor and develop QS Assistant
Knowledge and experience in commercial reporting
Knowledge and experience of cash flow forecasts
Excellent IT skills, particularly Excel
Knowledge and experience of Subcontractor account management
Excellent numeric and literacy skills
Knowledge and experience in estimation and cost analysis
Proven ability in interpreting and collating financial Data and using spreadsheets


Circa £40,000 - £50'000
Option of Company Car + Fuel Card
Contributory Stakeholder Pension Scheme
Holiday - 33 days inclusive of statutory allowances
Hours - 07:30 - 17:00 Mon -Fri
