Due to recent investment the site is investing heavily into brand new machinery and are putting all staff through personal development programs to upskill.
The Role of a Head of Mechanical Engineering:
This position as a Head of Mechanical Engineering is purely management based and will be in charge of running the whole of the Mechanical Engineering Department. This role is working in a unique working environment with a great atmosphere and requires a strong relationship builder, man manager and an inspirational leader. The large team of Mechanical Maintenance Engineers is highly skilled and well preforming and already has lots of the processes in place to continue being successful. The task of the Head of Mechanical Engineering will be to re-build morale which has recently started to falter by building relationships and winning the respect of the engineering team and then focusing on getting the moral back within the team. This role does not require someone with an iron fist to come in and make wholesale changes, but a strong people person who can get the team performing to the highest levels through man management.
The candidate must have expert technical knowledge in mechanical fault finding and repairs. You will have excellent Man Management and relationship building skills and be a people person. You must be able to influence and motivate engineers whilst getting them to buy into your leadership style. The Engineering Manager must have experience of managing a skilled engineering team and also have a strong technical background themselves with an engineering qualification. Suitable Engineering Managers can come from a number of backgrounds such as Manufacturing, FMCG, Airport, Forces, Distribution or Process.
