Structural & architectural London based Steelwork Company looking for a time served Workshop Manager. This role will be a challenge as the business has built its reputation on delivering exactly what the client asks for, which can result in last minute changes to fabrication plans. A Workshop Manager who thrives on a challenge and who has pride in their work and a passion for steel need only apply.

As an SME, the pressure is often on to do the impossible and the business bases its reputation on their hard working team who in turn deliver a quality product with impeccable service. The successful candidate would have the ability to meet every challenge head-on and always view it positively as an opportunity to grow as is the company ethos.

You will need the following experience and qualifications to be considered for this position:

• Excellent knowledge of steel and other products within the industry
• Excellent knowledge or willingness to learn about CE marking
• Management of Production from drawings of different qualities
• Understanding of design & connection details
• Ability to manage a team of fabricators in the workshop and get them to produce excellent work
• Ability to work under pressure and turn out excellent quality fabrication fast and within deadlines
• Pride in the work
• Ability to liaise with the company Buyer, Estimators and Site Managers
• Ability to work through scope of works and specification with Estimator and work to budgets
• High Level of admin will be required and contact with the office
• Excellent organisation skills
• Positive attitude to problems and dealing with staff of all levels
• Ability to conduct workshop staff appraisals
• Ability to multitask
• Take responsibility for jobs and all the fabrication that leaves the workshop with meticulous attention to detail.
• Pride in the work with an eagerness to get the job done even if it requires overtime to complete the work
• Excellent knowledge in the safe use of workshop machinery
• Willing to be hands on as and when required
• Successful candidate must be local as late shifts and weekend working will be required when a project demands it until the candidate has built their team and can trust his foreman to take charge of such shifts
• Successful candidate must have IOSH and a strong understanding of H&S and a willingness to learn more on environmental issues
