I am currently representing a leading consultancy who are on the market for a Quantity Surveyor. I have worked with this organisation for a number of years now and have placed several members of staff who have nothing but positive reviews of the organisation. Job role/criteria:

* Liaise with a team of surveyors including allocation, programming, monitoring and progressing work of the team, supervision and appraisal of the team
* Ensure performance, quality and safety standards are met
* Head project teams for particular projects including selecting and organising the team and co-ordinating their activities
* Liaise with management team to ensure a co-ordinated approach to maintenance and allocation of work to ensure targets are met
* Keep Manager informed of progress and issues with all projects
* Undertake feasibility studies, provide estimates, prepare contract documentation and invitation to tender documents for the improvement, adaptation, repair, maintenance, demolition and asbestos removal works of Council properties
* Ensure that necessary statutory approvals for agreed schemes are obtained
* Obtain competitive tenders/quotations & evaluate
* Order works with contractors, suppliers and utility companies
* Manage contracts, including chairing meetings, monitoring and controlling quality, progress, costs and safety
* Determine variations, claims and damages
* Checking monthly valuations and negotiating and settling final accounts
* Develop best value service improvement initiatives
* Develop partnership agreements
* Obtain estimates and costs for contract works to leasehold flats in a format easily related back to tender/quotes for recharges to be made
* Giving quantity surveying, costing and contractual advice
* Selecting and entering (during the procurement process) into contracts Council with private contractors using industry forms such as PPC 2000, JCT suite of contracts in conjunction with the Council's legal team
* Managing major works in accordance with the contract and conditions during the project
* Such variations as may be required from time to time without changing the general character of the duties shown above or the level of responsibility entailed
* Education, experience and essential:
* Degree or equivalent professional building related qualification with post qualification practical experience with a minimum of 5 years technical professional experience
