Novarka (JV between Bouygues Construction & Vinci Grand Projects)
Scope of works:
The Project scope of works is the supply, and fabrication of ductwork and procurement related to the containment ventilation for the Project to be delivered on an Ex Works basis; followed by the supervision of installation labour provided by the client. Thereafter, our client shall be conducting the commissioning of the ventilation works on site in order to provide containment in such a way that the air flow will always be directed from the low contamination areas to the high contamination areas and to maintain levels of release to within the agreed limits. Our client will supply the ductwork systems whilst the precise nature of who supplies the plant is still under discussion. Our client will be providing a variety of staff into the project to consist of project manager and engineer, senior and assistant quantity surveyors, and quality engineers. Procurement managers, design engineers, drafting resource, site construction & installation managers and a commissioning manager
The client in this matter is Novarka, an un-incorporated Joint Venture between Vinci Grand Projects (VCGP) and Bouygues Travaux Publics (BYTP), both are French Registered entities. The Project involves input from VCGP and BYTP in their own capacity together with a third party NOVI; and they wish for our client to work with them within the framework of a Joint Venture. Therefore we have proposed that we adopt a traditional form of contracting, in that our client is appointed by Novarka for the Project and that our client in turn appoint NOVI, VCGP and BYTP as its suppliers.
The majority of the client workforce will reside and work in the town of Slavutych, which is some 50kms from Chernobyl. Slavutych was specifically built to house workers from the Chernobyl plant and is where the headquarters of Novarka are based. A rail line links Slavutych to Chernobyl, which runs through Belarus.
