My client, a well renowned insurance provider based in Essex are looking for a Development Team Manager to take a technical lead and coordinate teams of software developers - delivering flexible, robust and innovative solutions that meet specific Business requirements.
You will be responsible for the management of the development team, providing SMART objectives, guidance and direction. You will carry out general management duties including 121's, quarterly and end of year reviews, holiday management and staff reviews. You will create and maintain a professional culture within the team, where individuals take ownership and are fastidious and proud of delivering excellence.
In partnership with the other technical leads, Infrastructure and data team set direction for all aspects of our development technology practice.
To lead and coordinate project teams of designers and developers in order to deliver project solutions on time and to expectations. You'll be involved throughout all stages of the software development lifecycle: analysis, implementation, testing, debugging, release and handover.
Working collaboratively with the Project and IT Teams to ensure that all aspects of development projects are delivered in a controlled and planned manner.
Define, document and enforce standards and methodologies in order to drive consistency throughout the team. You'll ensure we build future-proof reusable core code libraries to help drive down development timescales and complexities. You'll ensure all software development complies with the overall I.T. design and architecture strategy.
Review and promote the use/implementation of industry standard software development tools such as source control, deployment servers, code libraries and appropriate methodologies/processes.
You'll actively contribute to ongoing research & development initiatives, and will assist with strategic and technical advice for anyone working on these projects.
At least 6 years commercial experience in a software development position ideally you will have 2 years + experience as a lead developer.
