We are looking for an experienced Wireless Engineer to take part in an ambitious programme of technology innovation. This role contains a mix of theoretical, system design and integration and formal test and development work. A number of these projects are already underway such as our development of a world first in Industrial IoT. You can watch a video here that explains this in more detail.

Unlike other wireless engineering roles, the Ocado Technology Wireless Engineers are heavily involved in all technical aspects of the projects that they work on due to the ongoing and continuous innovation in these areas. No two projects are alike. This means we are looking for the most capable people who blend theoretical knowledge with a real world understanding of how these technologies can be used to successfully deliver business benefits.

Roles & Responsibilities

- Identify, develop and test new product features and integration with the wider platform
- Develop and maintain Matlab and simulation capabilities
- Manage test resources, specify equipment and author in-depth technical reports to a high standard
- Specify, design and deliver a autonomous regression suite
- Assist in tracking, prioritising and resolving system defects
- Disseminate knowledge and skills amongst team members
- Further own understanding of wireless principles
- Provide last-line support for production systems

What we look for

- Fluent understanding of common wireless communication principles such as antenna selection and propagation mechanics
- Experience of radio or wireless product development
- Experience of defining, implementing and carrying out formal test plans
- Some programming or scripting knowledge; Python, R, Matlab
- Ability to work upon a number of operating systems; Windows, Linux/Unix, OSX
- Strong communication skills - able to explain complex technical matters both verbally and in writing
- Practical expertise around channel modelling, link budget analysis and simulation
- Able to use lab tools such as spectrum analysers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc
