Summary of Role

The Communications Manager role is to serve the Raytheon UK business by helping the team to effectively shape and communicate messages to a wide range of internal stakeholders. This is in order to help inform and engage employees across the UK organisation.

Main Duties

  • Work across the business in the provision of communication activities that support functional and business marketing strategies
  • Participate in or direct preparation of company communications
  • Develop, recommend, and maintain communication strategies and tactics to achieve objectives
  • Select, write, and review messaging, articles, presentation materials and digital content
  • Interview to obtain items for publication and to verify facts
  • Assign or approve artwork, final proofs and page layouts
  • Responsible for the coordination of production of selected deliverables and distribution activities associated with mid and senior level internal functional/business representatives and external design suppliers.

Candidate Requirements


  • Demonstrable experience within a corporate communications role, ideally from within the Defence or aerospace sectors.
  • Experience of delivering key messages through to varied stakeholders through a range of channels.
  • The ability to translate complex technical language and ideas into compelling and easily comprehensible copy to internal audiences.
  • Experience with briefing and advising senior management on communication strategies.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to demonstrate excellent written and oral presentation skills
  • The ability to develop and execute integrated plans incorporating a variety of digital and social media channels
  • The ability to work with employees at all levels including senior leaders
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills experienced in managing multiple projects
  • Creative and innovative
  • Flexible in approach to changing conditions
  • Ability to prioritise, work under pressure and deliver to agreed deadlines.
  • Enthusiastic approach to change and ability to travel to multiple UK/US locations.


  • Thorough, accurate and attentive to detail in all aspects of work.
  • Service driven and professional.
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and in a team.
  • Knowledge of the Defence and Aerospace sector
