Individuals will provide engineering (both radiological and non-radiological) support for maintenance and repair of post-delivery nuclear submarines and nuclear facilities at Subase New London and in the Shipyard. Additionally, individuals will provide radiological engineering support for new construction ships in the Shipyard. |
Duties will include development of technical work documents to be executed by trades, shipboard support and oversight of trade work execution, identification and implementation of process improvements, surveillance of Nuclear Trade and RADCON training and development/modification of Radiological Test Equipment Drawings used to support reactor plant testing. Work on back shifts and weekends will be required as necessary to support Shipyard production.
Individuals will work closely with Nuclear Operations, Quality, Radiological Controls, Ships Force, Nuclear Test and Audit & Assessment personnel, local customer representatives (NRRO, RPCO, SUPSHIP), and Navy Squadron personnel.
Individuals will become a member of the Nuclear Engineering Core Group and must be able to obtain and maintain qualification as Radiological Engineers in accordance with Article 112 of NAVSEA 389-0288 (Radiological Control Manual) and as Nuclear Engineers in accordance with NAVSEA NA (Quality Manual).
Depending on the candidates interest and experience, additional responsibilities may be assigned as the D473 Quality Advocate, the D473 Technical Program Quality (TPQ) representative or as an administrator of the Nuclear Engineering Metrics Database.
