Morson Projects are currently supporting their specialist research and engineering client recruit an experienced technical expert to lead their maritime combat systems research and technical support work. This exciting opportunity will the right engineer the opportunity to develop future capabilities through exploiting technology to develop new system concepts, reducing risk via technical demonstration and advising clients on updating in-service systems to overcome obsolescence and exploit new COTS or Technology developments.

The successful Combat Systems research engineer will have extensive industrial experience and technical qualifications relating to applied research into, or system development of, maritime combat and mission systems, including related sensor, information management, and offboard C2 capabilities.

Possessing either a strong engineering or scientific background the preferred candidate will possess a proven ability to:

• Understand and analyse complex problems, in creating and communicating innovative approaches on a number of levels with both external and internal stakeholders, including producing related requirement and design documentation.
• Lead research and engineering technical teams in the delivery of quality project outputs;
• Understand the challenges in the delivery of military capability. An awareness of industry's part in fulfilling the equipment and support aspects of delivery in the ISS and DE&S domains.
• Stimulate creative thinking within technical teams and generate innovative ideas which captivate customers.
• Demonstrate sufficient levels of systems and technology thinking so as to provide quality technical inputs, or advice, to customers regarding improved architectures, and system functionality and performance, within the Maritime Combat and Mission System domain;
• Apply this systems and technology knowledge and experience to constructively review and critique industrial supplier offerings and programmes on behalf of MOD customers;
• Understand and engage with the MOD Capability and Acquisition Management enterprise.
• Develop and assess supplier's equipment development and ITEA plans.
• Demonstrable experience working with people individually and in teams.
• Hold (or be eligible to hold) UK security clearances.
