Research Engineer (Computer Vision) Oxford, UK £40-65k+

There are multiple opportunities which have been created for Research Engineers to join this established and growing start-up based in Oxford. The company is involved with the development of sophisticated computer vision and machine learning based systems for medical applications.

The current team is comprised of research and software engineers that are involved with the development of algorithms for the company's products. Typically they seek to recruit professionals with experience in a few of the following areas:

Primary: Computer Vision (e.g. feature detection, recognition and feature tracking) - human subjects ideally
• Machine Learning (Artificial neural networks, deep learning, Bayesian networks, decision trees etc)
• Signal Processing (2D, time varying signals))

The ideal candidate would be a research associate, research engineer, data scientist, software engineer or computer vision engineer with a background in computer vision, and also machine learning or signal processing coupled with strong algorithm development and ideally implementation skills.

Skills / Knowledge Required:
• Most likely candidates will hold a PhD, PostDoc or equivalent industrial research skills in probably two of the areas mentioned (Computer Vision and either Signal Processing or Machine Learning)
• Excellent experience of MATLAB (also Octave or R would be useful)
• Good C++ or Python experience would be great (ideally with OpenCV)
• Understanding and experience of statistical modelling techniques
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to perform well in a team based, collaborative product development and research environment

Other skills / beneficial:
• Ideally candidate will have good cross platform C++ 11/14 programming with use of Boost, STL or OpenCV
• Experience of Vision systems, cameras and illumination
• Ideally from an environment where exposure to test driven design/development with code quality and agile tools
• Knowledge and exposure to medical device development would be great
