Development Engineer / Test Development Engineer - Aerospace.|
Our client is looking a number of Contract Development & Test Development Engineers to at their Wimborne site to test Air-to-Air Refuelling (AAR) equipment (wing/centreline externally mounted refuelling pods, internal fuselage mounted refuelling units) and Auxiliary Mission Equipment (air-to-air refuelling probes, weapons carriage and release systems) for a wide range of customers. These systems require many leading edge technologies to meet demanding performance and safety requirements; including: precision hydraulic and fuel systems, motor drive technologies, composite braking and actuation, avionic control systems incorporating complex electronic hardware, software and system control, monitoring and indication, aerodynamic metallic and composite structures. Due to a strong order book and increasing workload our client needs to add a Test Engineer to their current engineering team.
The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team carrying out testing at equipment and system levels capturing test evidence. This may involve testing across either of the main business areas of Air to Air Refuelling and Auxiliary Mission Equipment. The Test Engineer will be expected to follow current departmental processes. The successful candidate will work as part of the engineering team at IPT level or at product level supporting test activities to demonstrate function and performance in environment.
The majority of the work will be carried out at external test facilities used by our client in the UK. Occasional overseas (infrequent) travel may be required.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities for Development and Test Engineers include:
Provide technical input to test rig setups at test houses.
Customer and supplier facing responsibilities to discuss qualification activity.
Planning, arranging and attending test activities including control of test hardware, test support equipment, transportation and test cost and schedule.
Qualifications and experience for Development Engineer and Development Test Engineers will ideally include:
Relevant degree or equivalent
Proven experience of testing products to Environmental Standards (RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810, etc.)
Experience of performing environmental and functional testing.
Good communication and negotiation skills
Ability to effectively analyse and manage information
Ability to work effectively on your own and as part of a team
Skills & Experience - Development Engineer / Test Development Engineer:
The test development engineer would be solely responsible for receiving test Articles and test procedures then setting up and then running a test(s) and then sending the appropriate data gathered from the test back to the development engineer to review and document in test reports.
Whilst running the test the Test engineer should be able to monitor the progress the test, identify and resolve any issues as the test progresses, ensure that the quality data being gathered is as required and ensure the test is completed to the expected dates. You will need to have good experience of the importance of working in a safe manner both for yourself when running the test as well as people around you.
You should have worked in the Aerospace test environment with particular experience working with RTCA DO160 & MIL-STD-810 standards testing products on the fuel systems, motor drive, braking & actuation systems on aircraft.
Candidates will be working with sensitive data and as such you should be willing to undergo BPSS (Baseline) & Disclosure Scotland Security Vetting before being able to commence the contract.
