This is an exciting career opportunity with an exceptional design and engineering consultancy. Our client is a leading multi-disciplinary design and engineering business comprising professional engineers, architects, surveyors and project delivery specialists across a number of market sectors including rail, industrial, energy and off-site solutions.
The Buildings and Architecture team is a new and dynamic team working on a variety of projects across a range of sectors. The core business areas are rail, energy & power, Waste and Steel. Our clients Engineers and Architects work closely together and develop excellent relationships with the end client. Much of the current design is on Design and Build Projects. Experience in heavy industrial projects, fabrication and crane gantry design would be beneficial but not essential.
You will be expected to lead and direct a small group of engineers, graduates and CAD technicians on a range of large multi-disciplinary projects predominantly within the waste and steel markets analysis, design and checking of heavily loaded large-scale industrial superstructures, office buildings, and crane gantries. Inspection and assessment of existing industrial structures Act as overall Project Coordinator for projects that have Structural engineering emphasis.
This would include working closely with the Project manager to agree project financials and changes as they arise. It will also require working close working and coordination with the Client and their other designers. Achieving the targets agreed with the Team Leader and Project Manager regarding the effective delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards, within agreed timescales and budgets Applying procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff, and others, affected by the operations of our client. Undertake designer duties as highlighted in CDM legislation. Interface as required with Clients, sub-contractors and other designers.
A good all round experience of structural and civil design. You will ideally be chartered or have a civil /structural engineering degree. Significant experience in industrial structural design. Experience of fabrication desirable, Experience of gantry crane design desirable. Proficient at Structural analysis. Good knowledge and experience of engineering design and detailing, covering steel, concrete masonry and timber design, with particular emphasis Steel and concrete codes, particularly for heavy industrial structures, preferably combined with steelwork fabrication/erection experience
Awareness of geo-technical and geo-environmental issues. Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word, 3D structural design modelling and analysis e.g. CSC SFrame and Fastrak and Superstress
Experience of working and delivering Projects in BIM and coordination with other disciplines using BIM. (REVIT and Navisworks) codes, particularly for heavy industrial structures, preferably combined with steelwork fabrication/erection experience.
