Our areas of specialty are the Biopharmaceutical, Food, Beverage & Consumer Health, Advanced Manufacturing, Healthcare, Education, and Energy Sectors. With the backing of a strong international Group, we have grown to become one of the UK leaders in the delivery of projects in the food and BioPharma Sectors and are rapidly developing within the other sectors.

We wish to recruit a high caliber Principal Electrical Design Engineer based mostly in our client site office based in Worthing and at various times in Birmingham (approx. 1 day a month). This is a senior role to support the department head, and the person will be responsible for all the usual day-to-day duties associated with a Principal engineer, both office and site based, with clients, suppliers and with colleagues throughout the PM Group.

• Lead various projects from an electrical service perspective and be part
of a multi-discipline design team.
• A typical role of Principal Electrical Engineer will involve the following
Design & Engineering responsibilities (the principle engineer must be
capable of designing personally and reviewing designs completed by
• Leading a team of site based electrical engineers and reviewing their
• Leading and designing key projects involving design capabilities listed
• Lighting & Emergency design using Dialux software platform
• Electrical power distribution design and cable calculations using
• Experience completing load flow spread sheets and analysis
• LV panel design and discrimination studies
• MCC Panel design and discrimination studies
• Fire alarm systems design
• Lightning protection/Earthing systems design & studies
• Security systems design
• Cable containment design
• Standby and prime generator installation design
• UPS system installations
• Liaise and coordinate with other disciplines within the UK offices, and
other PM Group offices
• ATEX Hazardous Area assessments and design installations
• 11kV High-Voltage design. Power distribution and discrimination.
• Site surveys and dilapidation reports
• Estimate capital costs on projects
• Writing scope of works and specifications and basis of design
• Review submissions and installations for compliance with design intent
and good engineering practice, being resident on a construction site as
required for construction engineering assistance.
• Witness commissioning activities, trials and factory acceptance tests for
compliance with design intent and good engineering practice.
• Site visits and surveys and contractor/client interface meetings
• Attend and participate in stakeholder meetings
• Develop project risk registers
• Commercially aware and ability to undertake value engineering
• Checking project work is technically correct and accurate

• A typical role of Principal Electrical Engineer will involve the following
management responsibilities
• Support the department head in relation to running the departments
day to day activities
• Support department head producing Fee proposals and Man-hour
• Attend client interface meetings
• Ensure that PM Groups quality systems/plans are being adhered to
within the department
• Track project man-hours against the man-hour plan
• Support department engineers and CAD technicians both from a
mentoring and project monitoring perspective

• Knowledge and experience of electrical engineering design serving the
process manufacturing industry for food and pharmaceutical

• Preferably chartered engineer with IET or CIBSE
• Minimum of a Master's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering,
or a Bachelor's degree in Building Services Engineering, at 2.1 or above
(work experience considered as equivalent to a degree will be
evaluated on a case by case basis)
• In excess of 10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the
consulting engineering sector & with some site based experience
• Fluency in both verbal and technical written skills in English

• Must have experience working in industrial sector, preferably with
food or pharmaceutical experience with knowledge of clean room
• Possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Working knowledge of Amtech Cable-master
• Working knowledge of Rialux and Dialux lighting programs
• Experienced working in a highly regulated QA environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Be able to analyse data and drawings
• Strong numerical and mathematical skills
