To provide specialist expertise in the development of low profile acoustic arrays for deployment from manned and unmanned platforms.
The job holder will be expected to:
Work within a dynamic and fast moving team including specialists in acoustics, signal processing, electronic and mechanical engineering and other technical disciplines.
Identify and develop cost effective technical solutions.
Co-ordinate technology and system development activities.
Support the team in ensuring that the overall technical requirements of each programme are being met, through requirements analysis and tracking, generation of interface and user documentation, planning and conduct of equipment test and trials, customer support and co-ordination of specialist design support activities such as safety and logistics support tasks.
Produce concise, but comprehensive technical documentation including reports, proposals and short studies.
Occasionally present to both internal and external customers.
Experience & Qualifications:
Experienced Design Engineer with expertise covering inboard and outboard aspects of towed array sonar equipment.
Experience in low profile array technology is desirable.
Qualified to first degree or equivalent standard and achieved or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
Extensive background knowledge of towed array sonar equipment and acoustic sensing in general.
Ability to work as part of a team is paramount as is the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Demonstrate good communication skills, both written and oral, at all levels.
Hold a full UK Driving Licence and be willing to work offsite, including customer facilities and trials locations.
The job will be based at the North Devon Office. Occasional visits to other sites will be required.
The candidate will report to the Advanced Technologies Development Manager.
