Our client is looking for an experienced Electro/Mechanical Field Service Engineer to carry out the service, repair and calibration of laboratory equipment.
The types of laboratory equipment are devices such as centrifuges, incubators, refrigerators, freezers, ovens and water baths.

There is a great deal of independence with this role; you'll be handed the work and be expected to plan your appointments accordingly and arrange appointments with the customer.

There will be occasions when you'll have to provide cover in areas outside your specified patch and stay overnight in a local hotel near the customer's site in order to carry out the job in the most cost effective manner.

Although this role is primarily of a technical nature, there is an opportunity for you to earn considerable bonus when replacing old equipment. This would only be the case when the instrument in question is no longer economical to repair. In addition to this, you would get a bonus for any new contract for the company and any parts fitted during a service.

This role requires the candidate to have their eyes open with regards to potential new sales opportunities such as adding different equipment to an existing contract or selling replacement units.

Benefits: -
• Additional bonus on spare parts fitted, new equipment sold or new service contracts taken up
• 28 days holiday
• Sociable hours. Candidate not expected to work weekends and bank holidays
• Flexible working hours
• Free to manage own workload with a large degree of independence
• 35 hour working week

Essential skills required:
Technical knowledge of electro-mechanical products
Organised and good at planning
Ability to improvise and think outside the box
Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage own work efficiently
A keen eye for detail with meticulous and tidy working nature
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly when speaking face to face with customers

Desirable skills:
• Experience in servicing laboratory equipment
• Knowledge of how to carry out IQ/OQ/PQ procedures for clean air products such as safety cabinets and isolators
• Experience in working for an ISO 17025 approved company
