HV Applications Secondary Engineer |
I am working with one of the world's most reputable engineering companies who are expanding their engineering divisions, and looking for an experienced HV Applications Engineer with a background in Protection and Control systems to support a massive increase of work within energy transmission & distribution sector.
This position will be a long term contract role, with some contractors being kept on for as long as ten years due to the well established reputation of the company, and various progression opportunities.
You will take ownership of designing, specifying and signing off designs of secondary systems/ protection and control designs for large substation build projects, primarily 132kV to 400kV.
To provide technical support in scheme option development and scope clarification against customer specifications, UK standards and design proposals for cost-effective solutions
To develop technical specification for Plant items such as CT's, VT's, Circuit Breakers, auxiliary supply boards and Protection & Control Equipment
Preparation of schematic Diagrams such as:
AC connection diagrams and block tripping diagrams
Distance and unit protection schemes
Biased differential transformer protection & Overcurrent and earth fault protection
Busbar protection and Circuit breaker fail schemes
Auxiliary systems and Local Control cubicles
To calculate Cable, Battery and LVAC loading requirements.
To provide support during the production of Wiring Diagrams, Cable Schedules, core sheets and other general interfacing diagrams.
Responsibilities & Requirements
Minimum 3 years' experience designing Protection and Control systems above 132kV - preferably up to 400kV.
Good understanding of power industry (particularly UK) including technical standards
Competent with relevant software: Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Raster Design, etc.
HNC/HND in electrical engineering or higher
Good teamwork, Analytical and communication skills
