The project:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an assistant quantity surveyor to work within a large rail contractor with a regional office in East London. The company has secured a significant amount of work in the region in regards to civils projects on the Network Rail framework, the CP5. Typical projects include station modifications, bridge upgrades, embankment stabilisation and tunnel works. This role offers security of work on the framework with great progression opportunities with continual development.

Role Description:

As the senior quantity surveyor you will take responsibility for the execution of the quantity surveying function on the contract within the limits defined by the Project Commercial Manager in order to maximise quality of service and profitability. This is an excellent opportunity for you to undertake work on a varied and rewarding portfolio. Typical duties will include:

• Presentation of all applications for payment, including all contractual entitlements

• Submission of estimate/tendering information to the client

• Prompt presentation of weekly cost/value information, delivery schedules and KPI data

• Commercial support to site and contracts management team. As well as estimating and procurement teams

• Close liaison with the client on all commercial matters, including preparation and submission of supporting information


• Prior experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably within a main contractor

• Experience working on rail projects.

• Ideally qualified; degree in quantity surveying/civil engineering, HNC, HND

• Excellent communication skills with a pro-active approach
