Controls Design Engineer required to provide full electrical design, software design and commissioning support for a specialist materials handling company who are expanding rapidly within the next 18 months.

The Controls Design Engineer will be expected to perform all controls design activities for delivery of a customer project from project launch to handover on site. They will also be responsible for all cost and time scale restraints for various material handling projects at multiple sites, whilst also ensuring the solution meets the requirements of the project.

This is predominately an office based role, however due to the nature of the work they will be expected to travel to site when required, especially during the commissioning stage of a project.

Desired Skills and Experience

* Educated to a minimum of HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering or related relevant discipline
* Prior experience working in a similar role, including controls design and commissioning within an automation based industry, ideally within the automated warehouse industry
* Previous use of CAD tools, (AutoCAD, EPLAN)
* Good understanding of PLCs (Siemens or Allen Bradley)
* Good understanding of fieldbus systems and I/O equipment, e.g. Profibus, Profinet, ASi, TCP/IP
* Good understanding of other controls automation related equipment, e.g. Bar code scanners, HMIs, Variable frequency drives
* Working knowledge of relevant standards governing the controls automation industry
* To be conversant with AutoCAD, E-plan, Word, Excel, Project, Outlook.
