Mechanical Engineering Function Group Brakes
You are likely to be a Development/ senior test engineer working in a test house or development area of an OEM or Tier 1 parts supplier with the foundation brake systems
To develop and manage external customer and internal research projects within the brakes team, providing expert support and knowledge.
The primary objective of the role will be to develop and exploit new business streams within braking, specifically focused on strengthening capability in fields such as brakes NVH and performance simulation.
The role would also include enquiry support, project scope/approach definition, project delivery, project reporting and CI initiatives for internal process and procedures.
To represent industry bodies such as the SMMT Brakes Working Group and the UN ECE GRRF brakes and running gear group of experts' working party.
The role will at times be highly customer focused, being the point of contact and technical expert/lead for the project, both in the UK and abroad.
Brakes Senior Engineer
Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, West Midlands, UK
To undertake project work as the technical expert in a timely and cost effective manner whilst ensuring that a professional interface with the customer is maintained.
The role will include:
Specification of brake systems/ components/ requirements
Brake system development and refinement
Assessment of vehicle characteristics and liaison with electronic assistance system suppliers
Undertaking internal research activities to advance industry technology
Test procedure development
Presentation and technology transfer to customers
Travel and activity overseas including Europe (Spain in particular), China, Korea, India, Brazil and the Middle East.
Degree qualified in automotive or mechanical engineering or Masters degree.
Experience of brake development and test (including hydraulic and air systems) applying skills to a wide variety of vehicles. This should also include hybrid vehicle and EV brake systems.
Attention to detail, customer liaison skills, ability to deliver, working with overseas customers in foreign territories.
Extensive commercial or military vehicle experience.
Experience of working with and developing ABS, stability control and other related electronic assistance systems.
Foreign languages would be a positive addition.
