Our client is experiencing tremendous growth and a result, has an opportunity for a Technical Director in their Geotechnical Engineering (Underground Space) team. You will lead a range of Geotechnical design projects primarily in London and the UK south-east. The role will focus mainly on underground structures and underground space where a unique blend of skills and specialist experience is necessary. |
Reporting to the Regional Director this position requires an articulate and focused individual with highly developed technical engineering, interpersonal and organisational skills. The emphasis of this role will be on managing commercially viable work and offering a reliable, high-quality client focused service. The role will also involve some work winning responsibility. This is an opportunity to contribute to the strategy and direction of the geotechnics group and to reap the rewards of your efforts.
The attributes required to successfully fulfil this role are:
Highly competent in the geotechnical design of retaining walls, ground movement assessments, soil structure interactions, piles, deep foundations for large developments, deep excavations for commercial basements, underground space for rail, utility shafts and other uses along with a detailed knowledge of geotechnical construction techniques.
A knowledge of design for linear assets in the rail and highways sector would also be beneficial.
A detailed knowledge of all applicable codes of practice, design standards and health and safety regulations.
Ability to plan, organise and manage resources, provide leadership, mentor and motivate a team.
Can effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, external agencies and build effective working relationships.
Be a 'Networking Champion', continually seek out and attend regular networking events. Form new relationships and leverage existing relationships to secure project wins.
Be commercially astute, prepare technical and commercial bids, win work, project manage and consistently deliver significant projects to program and budget.
Take ownership of multiple projects managing risk, ensuring financial, commercial and contractual compliance.
Promote and champion a quality culture to achieve company goals, is committed to Continued Professional Development and keeps up to date with current trends in the industry.
Ideal candidates must have the following credentials:
A degree (minimum 2:1) in Civil Engineering or similar.
Significant and the relevant UK project geotechnical design engineering experience.
A Chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or appropriate professional body.
