Testing and Commissioning Manager
Principal Accountabilities
Management of Communications and Control Systems Test and Commission activity from Factory acceptance testing to handover of systems into operational use.
Support the client's overall Test and Commissioning strategy and process.
Actively support and contribute towards the client's goal of delivering and integrated railway.
Engage with contractors and project teams to develop strategies that ensure availability of systems to support internal and external stakeholder's requirements and the client's delivery objectives.
Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected in the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working to the client's Target Zero principles.
Co-operate with The client's in all matters relating to health and safety, including following safe working procedures at all times
Act as a role model for the client's vision and values, behaving in ways that are in alignment with the client's Ways of Working. Encourage and support others to do so too
Promote equality in the workplace and adopt appropriate behaviour when interacting with colleagues
Take necessary care to properly protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of corporate information from unauthorised disclosure, modification or destruction. Never knowingly put the client's information or information systems at risk
Main challenges of the job
Lead the Contractor to develop & deliver test and commissioning strategies and associated documentation to ensure contract requirements are met and 3rd party interfaces are integrated correctly.
Review, assess and validate contractor programme of activities across multiple locations to deliver multiple systems in parallel taking into account external influencing factors and 3rd party activities.
Drive the delivery of the T&C elements of the C660 & 3rd party contracts to deliver integrated Communications and Control Systems
Provide a single point of contact for project T&C activities.
Integration of the client's projects & programme and associated priorities.
Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
Systemwide, Stations, Shafts & Portal project teams
3rd parties such London Underground, Network Rail, Rail for London, British Transport Police etc.
The client's internal functions such as Chief Engineers Group, Quality, H&S etc.
Person Specification
Educated to Degree level or higher in a relevant engineering subject, or equivalent experience.
Membership of a relevant Engineering Institution.
Performed technical management roles in complex telecommunications project environments.
Proven experience planning and implementing integrated telecommunication systems.
Beneficial to have previous experience implementing Cellular and Railway Radio systems.
Proven ability managing the commissioning and delivery of telecommunications projects in surface and sub-surface railway and/or metro environments.
Proven ability to lead & motivate multiple T&C Teams
Experience of NEC3 contracts
Experience of delivering £100m+ contracts
Ability to review and interpret project programmes using Primavera
