You will provide support for the University's lecture capture service: assisting lecturers with the setup of lecture capture sessions and troubleshooting common problems. You'll conduct regular preventative maintenance visits to ensure that lecture capture and other systems are operating effectively.

Working largely independently, you will on occasion be expected to respond to new and unfamiliar tasks working with other IT sections to identify the root cause of a problem and deliver a satisfactory outcome.

Responsibilities & Duties:

You will work with the Networking and Operations Team in relation to emergency networking and patching issues ensuring that DNS changes are recorded.

You will provide a professional image and service to both staff and students, keeping them informed of the progress of their issue at all stages of resolution, referring to the Service Manager for guidance or resolution.

Contributing to the continuous development of the service, you will be involved in AV projects, standard room installations, and ongoing maintenance of supported systems - including the development of infrastructure systems such as RoomView and other remote access systems. You will also help identify and document new fixes for inclusion in the department knowledge base.

A key aspect of the role is to help mentor and develop a small team of AV technicians to improve service standards and you will act as an escalation point for the resolution of more complex issues.

Having significant interactions with all levels of University staff and students, you will have excellent communication skills, a confident and welcoming manner and the ability to work under pressure as well as having a wide ranging knowledge of AV and IT.

Technical experience & knowledge:

Hold or be working towards recognised AV qualifications.
Microsoft Desktop Support Technician or equivalent qualification.
Experience of diagnosing and resolving hardware faults in a logical manner.
Substantial experience of providing Audio Visual technical support in a large networked environment.

Proven skills in the installation, configuration, management and support of a range of AV hardware.

In addition to salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities - with other benefits including Leisure & Sport facilities, Pension, Salary progression and Family Support
