Our clients a well established construction, refurbishment and fit-out contractor are looking to recruit a SHE Manager; working mainly within London and the South-East on high quality projects working within both the public and private sectors carrying out projects in a diverse market. Their portfolio includes significant heritage conservation works, educational projects, commercial fit-out, new build and private residential refurbishment development.

They are looking for a self motivated and hands on person that has the ability to work alone or as part of a team giving constructive advice and manage others i.e. contractors, NA will be flexible in your approach and ideally worked in a similar role having managed others.

Qualifications/Professional Memberships

- Grad IOSH or similar
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent


- Keep project schedule up to date with current/pending projects
- Update inspection template as required
- Conduct monthly inspections on all sites and submit a report
- Visit sites on request
- Follow up closed down actions of report
- Provide monthly statistics of inspections
- Attend project meetings as requested
- Head quarterly H&S Committee meetings and submit minutes to all staff
- Research and implement any new H&S features / initiatives following committee meetings
- Assist in BSI Audits
- Support systems manager in system procedures / documentation / closing out non-conformities / attend management review meetings
- Attend project handover / debrief meetings
- Conduct accident/near miss investigations and update statistics
- Update Health and Safety Legal register / annual compliance checks
- Submit H&S Bulletins companywide when required
- Send emails/memo`s/letters to staff on industry and procedure updates/changes when required
- Keep abreast of legislation and industry updates and changes
- Keep training matrix up to date with new starters/leavers
- Organise training and ensure certificates do not expire
- Develop, update and submit CITB training plan annually

- Submit other training grants/funding - (technical and professional / Site Safety Plus / in-house training)
- Manage apprenticeships
- Arrange CSCS tests and order cards
- Apply for International Safety Awards annually
- Assist with any PQQ's
- Renew Safecontractor, CHAS, Constructionline, Altius memberships
- Review the safety info on Subcontractor PQQ`s and check status on HSE name and shame website

Head Office Specific

- Keep fire RA and plan up to date
- Arrange for monthly testing of fire arrangements
- Organise 6-month emergency lights/fire alarm checks and annual fire extinguishers
- New starters office induction
- Review and action Office RA
- Keep all legal testing up to date
