My client, based in Bexley, is looking for a Building Surveyor to join their team. This is a full time, temporary role for up to 9 months.|
The main responsibility is to provide a full surveying service to facilitate improvements and adaptions to service users homes.
Other responsibilities include;
Carrying out detailed surveys of properties, taking measurements and readings as required, to enable detailed plans and specifications to be produced.
Following an inspection, deciding on the most appropriate building work/adaptation to meet the need.
Liaising with Occupational Therapists and other Health professionals to determine the most appropriate adaptation to be supported.
Interpreting the legislation relating to Disabled Facilities Grants to ensure that the works satisfy the eligibility criteria.
Preparing a detailed specification of the work to be funded by a grant or loan, including necessary drawings and technical specifications.
Preparing all drawings and technical detail required to obtain planning and building regulation approval and ensuring that all legislative and statutory requirements are met.
Analysing quotations provided by the builders to ensure their accuracy and cost effectiveness.
Negotiating costs directly with builders to minimise the liability to the Council and to ensure costs are maintained within the approved budget.
Supervising the contract with the contractor to ensure the quality of all aspects of the work, including carrying out regular site visits, agreeing any variations required in the contract, carrying out valuations of work undertaken and approving payments to the contractor.
Arbitrating between clients, contractors & other relevant parties involved in the contract if any disputes occur.
Assisting in the review and regular updating of a standard set of specifications used by the Building Surveyors to ensure compliance with building regulations and good practice.
Providing technical support and advice to other departments, external agencies and applicants to ensure that decisions and recommendations are appropriate and well informed.
Carrying out other duties as may be reasonably required by Senior Managers.
To keep under review and develop the structures, procedures and working methods for which the post holder is responsible to ensure an integrated, effective and efficient approach to the delivery of services.
To ensure that working practices and processes are developed that maximise the use of new technology to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services to residents.
The successful candidate for this Building Surveying role will hold a relevant qualification and have experience in a similar role. Also required is a full UK drivers license and access to a vehicle as travel will be required.
