As a maintenance Electrician you will need to be keen, enthusiastic and physically fit. The main activities are maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance monitoring and associated remedial work. Applicants should be able to prioritise their work, parts and materials and carry out tasks from appropriate technical instructions/drawings, specifications in a safe, tidy manner and be capable of working on their own initiative. The Mian Hospital and Community Properties include forensic buildings. The trust provides a wide range of mental health services to the local community as well as nationally. To maintain continuity of service we run an on-call rota and there will be times when extra hours, altered work patterns/duties is required as well as a requirement to undertake training to remain current with relevant standards and practices.

Key Responsibilities:
1) To undertake planned preventative maintenance or emergency work as
demanded by a Hospital of this type and use all skills, knowledge to ensure safe methods of working and to carry out maintenance tasks in the most cost effective way for the Trust

2) To understand the workings of engineering services and systems in NHS/Trust premises. Ensuring that they are maintained to a high standard and that all plant and equipment are utilised in a safe and efficient manner

3) To carry out work as requested by management/supervision using the appropriate current works docket/request system and ensuring that all associated paperwork is completed as required

4) To work as part of a departmental team and where necessary to support/assist the work of colleagues, and to be able to work with staff of all levels and disciplines throughout the unit

5) To provide a maintenance service to all Trust buildings, off site properties and be able to work unsupervised. To have a flexible approach to the work and be able to work beyond the normal hours of duty if required and to carry out other tasks from the building section should circumstances so dictate

6) To ensure work undertaken is completed in a timely manner and that appropriate records are updated through the requisite system

7) To keep up to date with any new legislation and attend training courses as directed by Estate Management

8) To be able to work safely in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act, current guidance and to follow any other safety policies as issued by the Trust

9) To be compassionate and mindful to our clients and be mindful of the need for safe use, security, storage of plant, equipment and tools

10) To drive between trust properties in a safe and timely manner adhering to trust policies

Person Specification Verified at interview (I), by application form (A) or by a test (T)

Essential NVQ-3 or equivalent in relevant trade(A.I) -BS7671 17th edition + amendments (C&G 2382/20) -C&G 2394 / 2395

Knowledge of the compliance demands in healthcare premises (A.I.T)

Full clean driving licence (A.I)

knowledge of all associated trades (A,I)

Good communication skills (A,I)

To have basic computer skills (A)
