We are SCC - Specialist Computer Centres - Europe's leading provider of IT services and solutions. Demand for our Data Centre services continues to grow both from existing and new customers creating a real career opportunity for a talented individual to join us at our Birmingham Data Centre as a DCS Technical Author.

The key objective of the role is to lead the creation of formal professional documents and content for all services and products delivered by DCS.

Key Responsibilities
• To manage and update all content available internally including but not limited to;
o Customer technical Environment Documentation
o Data Centre Services Technical Instruction manuals
o SharePoint documents and sites
o Existing and upcoming platform documentation
o DCS Technical Knowledge management
• Liaise with colleagues and internal project teams to capture key pieces of information and produce customer friendly corporate documents
• Create and control the structure of all documents such that a common look and feel is achieved and content structure is technology and platform agnostic
• Leading on liaison with any 3rd partiers for production of glossy versions for distribution to existing and potential customers
• Ensuring all content is produced clearly with the correct balance of business and technical terms
• Editing and proof-reading documents produced by other areas of the business
• Assisting with the pre-sale bid process with customers as directed

Skills Knowledge & Experience
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with a track record of working with a datacentre technology stack and an appreciation of support and service transition. Experience of working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with a can-do attitude and able to handle work with multiple customers and projects. Candidate must have experience of working in a large solution provider with a rapidly expanding customer base.

• A qualification or appropriate background in a literary discipline
• 2years experience of writing for a technical audience
• A clear and concise writing style
• A flair for turning technical subjects and jargon into easily understood text
• The ability to absorb information quickly
• An analytical mind and an inquisitive nature
• A curiosity about how things work

• Exposure to technologies and technical manuals
• Experience of working in a managed services solutions provider
• Experience of working with strategy, policy and processes
• Exposure to project management and service management industry best practises (Prince2, ITIL v3, PMP, MSP)
• Exposure and experience of technical architecture frameworks including but not limited to TOGAF, ISEB and Zachman
• Experience of developing reference architectures, standards, frameworks
