C++ Developer for high-tech microscopy start-up in Oxford: C++11/CUDA/Python/Qt/OpenGL/Visual Studio/Windows|
Are you inspired by new scientific technology and want the opportunity to work for an expanding scientific start up as a C++ Developer? The company have designed and developed a super resolution optical microscope and are keen to grow the team with driven Software Developers with a mathematical mind-set who share the same passion for innovation and excellence.
As a key member of the software development team (3 others, but 12 in the wider engineering team) you will be utilising your C++ skills in designing and building smart and fast algorithms and an intuitive interface for a new, exciting microscopy platform, capable of imaging single molecules and resolving biological matter on the nanometre scale. You will be developing using a combination of C++, CUDA, Python, Qt and OpenGL in a Visual Studio development environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in C++, preferably using C++11 and developing for Windows
- Experience with CUDA and/or OpenCL
- Experience with Git or another version control system
- University degree in a technical field, e.g. maths, computer science, physics, engineering
Experience with the following would also be appreciated:
- Graphics rendering through conventional APIs (OpenGL / DirectX)
- Additionally, we would be very keen to speak to candidates with machine learning experience (though not an essential requirement).
You will be working in an exciting, fast-paced, but also relaxed and flexible working environment in Oxford-based offices. As a small company, you will be close to all aspects of the business. There will be room to grow with and within the business, and opportunities to liaise directly with customers and clients. The environment is lightweight on formal process (we have a basic Kanban board and Git workflow) and you will be expected to be self-managing, proactive and share responsibility with the other developers for each task in hand. Previous experience working in a commercial environment would be advantageous but not essential, as long as you have evidence of C++ projects to show off.
A salary reflective of experience but this would be circa £35-45k plus very exciting share options, as well as the opportunity of joining a technologically advanced start-up who are very passionate about what they do!
