To ensure that standards, principles and policies are maintained and adhered to co-ordinate the team's day-to-day technical activities. Mentor the other technical staff, contribute, alongside other development peers, to the setting and raising of standards of development. Hands on development, integration and configuration of systems as required. Evaluate development requests and changes, manage the development team to complete preliminary analysis, evaluation and development of the request /change. Provide quality/technical assurance/audits to ensure that software development processes are adhered to. Provide a pro-active service to the organisation towards investigating software advances and developments. Identify and co-ordinate activities to improve internal knowledge and understanding of technology advances. Evaluate and review programming methods and tools used for the organisation. Provide expert advice on some or all aspects of the programming methods, tools and/or standards used in the organisation. Ensure produced software and solutions are supportable, including documentation, knowledge transfer and transition requirements/documentation.


* Strong analytical and problem solving skills

* Good interpersonal and communication skills

* Previous experience of working in technical teams

* Proven experience of the principles of software engineering, programming and data management

* Experience of behaviour driven development, test driven development, unit testing and an appreciation of software quality engineering Desirable

* Previous commercial experience in software engineering

* Experience of agile development techniques

* Experience of communicating technical concepts to a non-technical audience

* Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders

* Good knowledge of Technology products and experience of working within Business and IT advantageous

* Good technical knowledge of Internet technologies and architecture

* Experience of working with multiple Operating Systems.

* Awareness of software lifecycles and quality management disciplines, for example agile software practices and test automation

* Contributing to the development and build of server side web applications

* Create and improve new and existing products and transactions across microservices

* Provide coaching to junior colleagues

* Seek collaboration and early feedback

* Deliver quality software which is easy to maintain and clean to operate

* Identify and report issues preventing delivery or development

* Effectively use version control systems in particular appropriate branching and merging techniques

* Work effectively as a member of their team; collaborating and communicating risks and issues.
