We are recruiting this permanent role which is based in Spalding but which will also involve UK and international travel. We are looking for a driven and experienced Technical Manager who is keen to join our client's team as an Infrastructure Support Manager. This role is critical in the smooth management and optimisation of our client's critical 24x7 Europe wide infrastructure. The position will be based within our client's largest production centre at Spalding, Lincolnshire, reporting to the Group Technology Manager. The successful applicant will take responsibility for the running of the two data centres, all LAN and WAN services, a large estate of physical and virtual servers, multiple MS SQL instances and the suite of monitoring and planning software. They will be supported in this by an existing team of five skilled infrastructure support analysts reporting to them. This role will also take responsibility for the 24x7 callout process, the IS teams change control function and supplier management for some sizeable contracts. You will also work closely with the technical project teams to design and transition new service delivery and service changes. Responsibility for a £1.3million value budget is also within your remit. Joining a team within an exciting and rapidly changing environment, dedicated to business improvement, you will operate in a technically demanding environment providing reactive and pro-active support services in the resolution of IT related issues. The maintenance and optimisation of reliable, cost effective and resilient service to agreed SLA's will be the primary goal of this role. This role is critical to ensuring that the support services our client provides are targeted effectively to our businesses and meet or exceed any commercial equivalents. |
This is a hands off role, where you must be happy to leave your team to perform the hands on operation of the team. You must have similar hands off management of a similar sized corporate support team within a 24x7 environment. Along with team and service management, the role will also require you to effectively manage and negotiate with suppliers for the various support contracts and other support procurement. The role is varied and your responsibilities will also include our client's IS wide change control process, managing our 24x7 callout facilities and call centre, plus ownership of our Major Incident procedure. Salary negotiable.
