Our client is a Sussex-based family partnership specialising in commercial estate agency, professional services and commercial property management. The business was established in 1988 and has built a strong reputation in their field of excellence. To develop their growth further, and maintain their existing portfolio, they are looking to appoint a qualified surveyor. This may interest an individual with ambitions to develop their career and share in some form of ownership in the long-term.

Reporting directly to the business owner, this role is responsible for a wide scope of interests in commercial property. This includes granting and renewing leases, preparing and managing all necessary schedules and service charges, managing all repairs and maintenance, as well as co-ordinating buildings insurance issues.
At a strategic level, you will manage a property portfolio in all it's variety, as well as sites for development, and challenge and appeal rating assessments as necessary. You will also undertake valuations of freeholds and leaseholds, but not for loan purposes.
This role is highly visible. You will be the face of the company to your appointed clients and report and advise on land law, rating, planning and insurance. You will also liaise with solicitors, architects, contractors, VOA, planners, rating departments and other statutory undertakers.
This is a busy job with lots of variety to motivate your interest. You'll also stay abreast of legislative change and complete other agency duties, as well as play your part in maintaining the agency's database on tenants, clients, insurance schedules etc.
Skills and Experience:
The successful candidate will have a significant depth of current experience in commercial property. You will be a qualified Surveyor and member of RICS. Whatever your experience, it'll be sufficient for you to make a swift impact from a standing start, and make an immediate contribution to an established and successful company.

LOCATION AND WORKING HOURS
This is a 40-hour week. Normal starting time is 9 am. The main office is in central East Sussex, but will involve regular travel to various commercial premises around Sussex from time to time working outside normal business hours and at weekends to accommodate clients.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
On target earnings should be in the region of £46,000 in year 1, including bonus.
You will need your own car, and all travel expenses will be reimbursed.
This position also seeks to address succession planning. The right candidate should be ambitious for some level of management and ownership of their own.
As soon as practically possible
There will be a screening interview with Martin Ellis of Recruitment South East. Thereafter there will be at two interviews with the owner.
