Job Summary
The Transportation Division of AECOM is actively seeking an energetic, highly talented Planner for immediate employment in the Piscataway, NJ office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established knowledge of Transportation Planning/Permitting for New Jersey and its surrounding areas. The candidate will interact with project teams, provide support on current projects, and review environmental documents and technical report. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Provide researching and technical writing for a variety of environmental regulatory documents such as environmental assessments, environmental impact statements, and other compliance documents
  • Assist on a variety of environmental studies for infrastructure projects including power, water, transportation, and development-related projects
  • Prepare materials and graphics in support of environmental, planning, landscape architecture, and community outreach projects
  • Work under supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member
  • Conduct extensive research in specific or general project areas
  • Write and present technical reports, work papers and correspondence
  • Assist in the development of NEPA and EO215 documents

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences or related degree (e.g., environmental studies, geography, planning, etc.)
  • Familiar with state and federal regulations is
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively apply environmental regulations
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Environmental Science, Planning or related field
  • 1 year of previous work experience
  • Experience with projects in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania
  • Experience with utility and/or transportation projects
  • Experience with wetland delineations and Land Use permitting
  • Experience developing regulatory permit applications
  • Experience with linear development projects
  • Transit or transportation experience; especially NJ Transit, NJDOT, and the New Jersey Turnpike Authority
  • Experience with the preparation of environmental documents (NEPA, EO215, CEDs)
  • Proficiency in NEPA and Executive Order No. 215 regulatory frameworks and their application to projects
  • Proficient writer and analyst
