Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented Construction Manager for immediate employment for our Sacramento office. The Construction Manager will handle the day-to-day tasks at the CHP Replacement Facility in Crescent City and San Diego, CA related to new construction. The Construction Manager will work closely with the Project Manager throughout the life of the project. The Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring all daily design and construction related issues are being addressed. The Construction Manager plays an important role in producing quality deliverables, on-time and within budget.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
  • Lead the design-build team in the design phase, from schematic drawings to 100% construction drawings, through construction phase while working with all stakeholders
  • Contract Administration - process contractor pay applications, evaluate and process change orders, analyze and maintain tracking sheets and records, perform inspection walks with bank inspectors, inspect and approve work in place, document stored materials and monitor punch/warranty work
  • Manage, coordinate, and inspect contractor work while project is in progress and be able to contribute feedback that might make work safer, cheaper, cleaner, lower impact or any other way improve the operational success of the projects
  • Manage Requests for Clarifications (RFCs), coordinate responses and track requests to resolution
  • Prepare monthly project reports
  • Maintain project management logs (RFIs, RFCs, PCOs, changes, submittals, field instructions, Non-compliances, safety and close-out).
  • Control and monitor project budget & schedule

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering or related
  • 8 years' experience in managing projects as Construction Manager
  • 2 years Public Works Experience
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal), proactive problem solving, and ability to adjust to changing job environment
  • Background in office procedures.
  • Proficiency in using Share Point, MS Word, Excel and P6
  • Familiarity with accepted buildings practices, materials and techniques, knowledge of common and general code requirements, ADA requirements, mechanical systems and components, permitting processes and requirements, market pricing and lien waivers

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to organize and manage contractors on complex projects and coordinate with public agencies
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering and construction principles, practices and procedures, applicable laws and government regulations, principles of management and supervision and procedures and policies of departments and facility
  • Demonstrate proactive problem solving skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Experience in the public contract code arena
  • Design Build experience
