Your new company
Globally recognised manufacturing organisation supplying high volume products used in the Automotive sector are currently looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Development and Design Engineer with experience of New Product Development and Testing process. You will be based in their office based in Cheshire.
Your new role
You will manage and develop new product designs and improve current designs. You will also manage and lead testing activities on new and existing designs. The role will require management of the procurement of components and support/take part in the build of development units and test rigs. You will be involved with development of test specifications and data analysis plans for components and subsystems. Develop test equipment, visualisation and measurement techniques to help set-up or characterise equipment. Lead design reviews and FMEAs providing advice and guidance on testing and validation issues. Develop reliability data (MTBF) from component and system testing. Help in the investigation of field failures etc. and provide test data to help understand any problems, identify root cause and verify corrective actions. To conduct and implement risk assessments of all development work and to ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times
What you'll need to succeed
You will have demonstrable experience as a Mechanical Engineer and: Educated to at least degree level in mechanical engineering or similar field; Minimum of 7 years Design experience with responsibility for Design/Analysis/Validation of complex parts in batch production environment. Analysis & Validation to include performance of high stress steel parts subject to high cyclic operation and their assemblies; Experience of the design process particularly taking new concepts through validation to production; Experience of working in a structured and controlled engineering development environment; Experience of working with 3D CAD and spread sheet packages for engineering applications; Practical (hands on) experience in a mechanical engineering environment; Understanding of the principals of measurement and testing; Familiar with instrumentation, electronic and electrical measurement techniques.
