Design of structural Steel Frames used in Offshore Applications
This bespoke, family owned engineering company has been established for over a century have grown to employ over 200 people and supply to some of the world's largest companies such as BP, Petrofac and Shell amongst others. As a result of winning a large project with one of their biggest clients, combined with winning new projects with new customers a bottleneck in the design department has developed and there is a large demand for structural steel frame design so we are looking to recruit a dedicated structural design engineer.
What the role will involve:
Taking a client Specification, understanding it and designing a solution that is fit for purpose.
Doing all stress calculations using Mathcad and Excel - classical methods. Due to the environments these products will be installed in calculations will include:
Stress, strain, loadings, bend, deflection.
Also explosion calculations - test the integrity of the design in the event of an explosion.
What the company are looking for in the contractor:
Mechanical engineering - concept design, blank sheet of paper - this role is a lead design role defining the concept design.
Stress calculations - using Mathcad, excel and classical methods. This is a stress role, not a FEA role.
Can work on multiple projects.
Experience with large industrial applications with structural steel frames.
